Lily Raines
Bio:
Baltimore-based painter, Lily Raines (b. 2003), uses representational oil painting
to generate dialogues on queer sexuality and mortality. She is currently pursuing
a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Arts in Painting. Her work
has been exhibited in Baltimore, Washington D.C., Charlotte, and Seattle,
including a solo show at the Gateway Gallery in Baltimore. Informed by her
transgender identity and bodily alienation, Raines seeks representation
through sublimation of self, forming relationships with media-objects and
narratives, with an emphasis on queer imagery of the Postwar.
